Şahsım ve birlikte görev yaptığım Vakıf Yöneticiler Kurulu üyesi arkadaşlarım, altı buçuk yılı aşkın bir süredir Doğu Akdeniz Üniversitesi Vakıf Yöneticiler Kurulu’nda bizlere tevdi edilen sorumluluğun bilinciyle görev yapmaktayız.
Bakanlar Kurulu’nun 25 Kasım 2025 tarihli Resmî Gazete’de yayımlanan kararıyla, görevden alınmamız Sayın Cumhurbaşkanı’na önerilmiş; gerekçe olarak “Doğu Akdeniz Üniversitesi’nin ekonomik sıkıntılarına yönelik yeterli önlem alınmadığı” iddia edilmiştir. Vakıf Yöneticiler Kurulu olarak bu gerekçeyi kabul etmediğimizi sizlere saygıyla belirtmek isteriz. Söz konusu iddia gerçeği yansıtmamakta olup, üniversitemizin ekonomik sürdürülebilirliğinin sağlanması adına gerekli tüm tedbirler zamanında alınmış, uygulanmış ve yakından takip edilmiştir.
Bu tedbirleri uygularken de Yasa, Tüzük ve Yönetmeliklerin koyduğu kuralların dışına çıkmadık. Bu vesileyle özellikle vurgulamak isteriz ki ne şahsımın ne de kurul üyesi arkadaşlarımın herhangi bir makama tutunmaya ya da görevde kalma yönünde bir beklentisi söz konusu değildir. Bu göreve başımız dik bir şekilde geldik; aynı onurla da görevi yeni atanacak olan arkadaşlarımıza devredip ayrılmayı da doğal görmekteyiz.
Görev süremiz boyunca şeffaflık ve hesap verebilirlik ilkelerini esas aldığımızın somut bir göstergesi olarak, Doğu Akdeniz Üniversitesi’nin mali denetiminin yapılması amacıyla Sayıştay’ı bizzat davet ettiğimizi de siz üniversite çalışanlarının ve ülkemiz kamuoyunun bilgisine sunarız.
Her koşulda tek önceliğimiz; Doğu Akdeniz Üniversitesi’nin kurumsal itibarı ve sürdürülebilir geleceğidir.

Valued Staff Members of EMU,
For more than six and a half years, both I and my fellow members of the Board of Trustees have been fulfilling our duties on the Eastern Mediterranean University Board of Trustees with full awareness of the responsibility entrusted to us.
Following the decision of the Council of Ministers published in the Official Gazette on 25 November 2025, a proposal was submitted to the Honorable President for our removal from office, on the grounds that ‘sufficient measures were not taken to address the economic challenges of Eastern Mediterranean University’. As the Board of Trustees, we respectfully express that we do not accept this justification. This claim does not reflect the truth; all necessary measures aimed at ensuring the economic sustainability of our university were taken on time, duly implemented, and closely supervised.
In implementing these measures, we remained fully within the boundaries established by the Law, Statutes, and Regulations. On this occasion, we would particularly like to stress that neither I nor my fellow Board members have any expectation of retaining office or holding on to any position. We assumed this duty with dignity, and we likewise consider it natural and honorable to hand over our responsibilities to the colleagues who will be newly appointed and to step aside with the same sense of honor.
As a tangible indication of our commitment to the principles of transparency and accountability throughout our term of office, we respectfully inform both the employees of the university and the public that we personally extended an invitation to the Court of Accounts for the purpose of conducting a financial audit of Eastern Mediterranean University.
Under all circumstances, our sole priority remains the institutional reputation and sustainable future of Eastern Mediterranean University.
